Keynote Speaker: Michael Robertson
Michael Robertson is a high-tech entrepreneur who has spearheaded an array of diverse, high-profile enterprises. The companies he's founded and guided showcase his various interests ranging from digital music to operating systems to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. He is a University of California alum who earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego in 1990.
Some of Michael's achievements include:
* MP3.com, launched in 1998. MP3.com established the largest collection of digital music in the world, amassing more than 1 million downloadable MP3 files
* The Robertson Educational Empowerment Foundation (REEF), launched at the University of California, San Diego in 2002. REEF is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to promoting new and innovative programs of investment in education.
* SIPphone.com, launched in 2003. This company harnesses the power of the Internet to allow customers to make free long distance phone calls using VoIP technology.
* MP3tunes, launched in 2005. MP3tunes is an online music store and artist music service that offers digital music without digital rights management.
* "Michael's Minute," a weekly online newsletter. Michael uses this forum to discuss his many interests including his companies, technology, his Broadway debut, and even various lawsuits. What started as a forum posting back in the MP3.com days now reaches a much greater audience.
