Marines Memorial Club (Hotel)
Reservations must be made directly with the Marines Memorial Club. Note that
UCSF has reserved a block of rooms at Marines Memorial at an attractive, reduced
rate. The special conference room rate is good three days prior to and three
days after the conference.
Call the Marines Memorial Reservations Center toll-free at (800) 562-7463 or
send e-mail to: reservations@marineclub.com.
To receive the conference rate, be sure to indicate that you’re a member
of UC CSC group.
Rooms are available at $139 / night (plus 14% tax) and at $154 / night (plus
14% tax).
The deadline for reserving your room at the conference rate is July
9, 2005.
Parking Near Marines Memorial Club
Parking in downtown San Francisco is both difficult and expensive. We encourage
UCCSC attendees to use public transportation wherever possible to reach the
conference site. Attendees will not be able to use their own UC parking permits
as there are no UCSF parking facilities near the conference site in downtown
San Francisco. Two parking garages are close to the hotel. However, attendees
who drive may want to consider using the hotel’s valet service.
Public Transportation to Marines Memorial Club
Airport shuttles provide door-to-door service from San Francisco International
Airport (SFO) ($14 one way) and Oakland (OAK) ($27 one way).
More adventurous travelers may take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from SFO
or OAK to downtown San Francisco. BART riders may disembark at the Montgomery
Street BART station and catch an outbound Muni bus (“2 – Clement”,
“3 – Jackson” or “4 – Sutter”) near the
intersection of Market, Sansome and Sutter Streets about ½ block from
the Montgomery BART station. Although some transit guides suggest riding to
the Powell Street station and taking the Powell Street Cable car, it is virtually
impossible to ride the cable car with a suitcase, the wait for the cable care
will most likely be long and the fare is $3 vs. $1.25 via the bus.
The truly adventurous may choose to disembark at the Powell Street BART station
and walk the 8 blocks (mostly uphill) to the Marines Memorial.
Campus Housing
UCSF has no student or on-campus housing available for conference attendees.
