Parking Near Marines Memorial Club

Parking in downtown San Francisco is both difficult and expensive. We encourage UCCSC attendees to use public transportation wherever possible to reach the conference site. Attendees will not be able to use their own UC parking permits as there are no UCSF parking facilities near the conference site in downtown San Francisco. Two parking garages are close to the hotel. However, attendees who drive may want to consider using the hotel’s valet service.

Public Transportation to Marines Memorial Club

Airport shuttles provide door-to-door service from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) ($14 one way) and Oakland (OAK) ($27 one way).

More adventurous travelers may take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) from SFO or OAK to downtown San Francisco. BART riders may disembark at the Montgomery Street BART station and catch an outbound Muni bus (“2 – Clement”, “3 – Jackson” or “4 – Sutter”) near the intersection of Market, Sansome and Sutter Streets about ½ block from the Montgomery BART station. Although some transit guides suggest riding to the Powell Street station and taking the Powell Street Cable car, it is virtually impossible to ride the cable car with a suitcase, the wait for the cable care will most likely be long and the fare is $3 vs. $1.25 via the bus.

The truly adventurous may choose to disembark at the Powell Street BART station and walk the 8 blocks (mostly uphill) to the Marines Memorial.
